How to compost pods
Our pods are certified for commercial composting, where they'll take six weeks to break down in a standardised certified system. Whilst they will break down in home compost, this will take longer, depending on factors like the size and makeup of your compost heap, the temperature and other conditions. Our pods will still break down if they end up in a land-fill system but will take a bit longer.
Check with your local council for their compost guidelines.

World Barista Champion and Ozone Coffee’s Head of Research and Development, Dale Harris, wanted to create an at-home coffee capsule experience that is as close as possible to a fresh morning coffee from one of our eateries. After months of testing, development and tweaks, Dale and the team have done it. We took some time to chat to him and learn more about the journey to pods, read the full story here
Flavio Paulino de Costa is the 5th generation of his family to be involved in coffee production and a superb agronomist. We met him through his work with other farms but were very excited to be able get coffee from his farm Nova Aliança, located in the well renowned coffee growing region of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
With a devotion to long-term sustainability, Flavio has carefully organised the farm with planted native trees and fruit trees to promote biodiversity, as well as producing fertilisers from the farm waste. This attention to detail carries through in the care of their plants, with careful measuring of many variables to assess plant health used to guide pruning, planting and harvesting.
