Shuttle & Loom

Chania, Crete

Shuttle & Loom was born in a speciality coffee shop in Chania, Crete. Realising their aprons were just not cutting it both practically and aesthetically, our friends and customers, Sotos & Stavros Michael of Kross Coffee Works, decided to do something about it. The brothers thought, who better to grasp the need of the craftsman than the craftsman? Teaming up with Barista, Manu Gompaki and using locally sourced leather and Italian selvedge denim, Shuttle & Loom now makes a range of barista accessories and lifestyle products.

We believe that craftsmanship still has a place in modern society.  If we are to play even a very small part to inspire producers to keep going we are very happy.

For our leather bag and accessory range, we are lucky to be able to source locally in Chania. Our town was once home to over 80 tanneries, most of them located in the seaside area of Tabakaria just behind Eleftherios Venizelos house in Halepa. Now only six – seven tanneries survive. We really wanted to preserve a part of this history. Handcrafting products using materials from these producers is our tribute to them.

We have a real passion for high quality raw material that we can trace back to the actual producers.

The 13,5oz Red Line Selvedge denim we use comes from Candiani Mills situated in a little town just outside Milan.

Our current Denim range includes aprons, bags and tool rolls. We dream of one day making a pair of jeans.

Our apparel is crafted to last and “age” beautifully. Denim and leather both wear with you, taking on the character of your daily routine and work style.
