Antigua Alom Washed

Antigua is a renowned coffee growing region in Guatemala, one of the eight regions recognised by Anacafe for producing some of the finest and most distinctive coffees in the world. The area's climate is characterized by sunny days, cool nights, and low humidity, which provides ideal growing conditions for coffee plants. Additionally, the three surrounding volcanoes, Agua, Fuego, and Acatenango, contribute to the region's rich volcanic soil, which helps retain moisture to counteract the low rainfall average.

Producers and agents from the Antigua Guatemala region collect coffee cherry every day during the harvest, which is then delivered to the Santa Bárbara mill located in Alotenango, about 15 kilometres away from the centre of Antigua City. At the mill, the coffee undergoes the wet process and is properly dried before transportation to the company's dry mill located near the capital city. The coffee remains in parchment until it is prepared for export as required.

To ensure quality and traceability, the company has control points that allow for the tracing of every batch back to its reception in the wet mill. This allows for better quality control and helps maintain the high standards for which Antigua Guatemala coffee is known.
