Bursting with tropical pawpaw and ripe grape flavours, with floral, vanilla notes and clean, tea-like body.
This coffee is cultivated in Koke Kebele in the Gedeo zone of southern Ethiopia. The small-scale farmers select only the ripe cherries and transport them to the processing station Koke Shalaye. The station works with 2040 small farmers who grow mainly 74110, 74112, and 74165.
The station covers 2.5 hectares and has 220 drying beds and 12 fermentation tanks. The washing station is owned by Abreham Mengiste and was established in 2019. It has gained recognition for its exceptional quality production, including an award from the Ethiopia Taste of Harvest competition in 2019.
The coffee is grown at an altitude of 1914-2150 masl. The combination of high-altitude fertile soil, rains, and local knowledge are all contributing factors to the high status of the region’s coffees.
This coffee is washed, which means that the skin of the cherry was removed and then beans were cleaned at the washing station until all the remaining mucilage was removed too. The coffee is sun-dried for 15 – 20 days until it achieves the ideal moisture.
