This coffee is the result of a joint venture amongst an array of smallholder coffee growers in Colombia. The coffee in this lot comes from producers located in Nariño, Huila, Tolima and Quindio. Only coffees with a micro-lot cup quality were selected for this lot. The idea behind this project is to pool coffee from growers who would otherwise not have enough volume to sell their best quality coffees separated from their main lot, which would usually sell on the commercial market.
This micro-lot is 100% Castillo. This variety was developed by the Federacion Nacional de Cafeteros. It is more productive than Caturra and resistant to coffee leaf rust.
