Ozone Coffee is officially recertified as a B Corp

Three years ago, we made a decision that would shape the future of Ozone. In 2022, we pressed submit on our first B Corp certification with a clear sense of purpose - and, if we’re honest, a few nerves too. We knew the world didn’t need just another coffee roastery. It needed one that stood for something. One that put people, planet and quality at the heart of every decision, not just in words, but in practice.
Three years on, we’re proud to say we’ve been recertified as a B Corp. And we’re super proud.

With a new score of 97.6, up from 83.6 at our first certification, this recertification reflects the progress we’ve made across the business. It also comes with an important reminder: this isn’t automatic. Recertifying means reopening the entire assessment, sharing the evidence, and showing real change.
For us, B Corp isn’t a badge to tick off. It’s a framework that helps keep us honest - and focused on what matters most. That great coffee shouldn’t cost the earth, or the people who grow it. And that building a better coffee business is something you commit to, again and again.

Our B Corp score: 97.6

The B Impact Assessment looks at five key areas - governance, workers, community, environment and customers to build a full picture of how a business shows up in the world.
Since our first certification in 2022, our overall score has increased by 14 points, rising from 83.6 to 97.6. It’s a meaningful step forward, driven by changes across the business, not just good intentions, but action.
Here’s what those pillars mean to us, and how they show up in practice.

Governance — 18.8 / 20
Governance is about how purpose is built into the foundations of the business.
For Ozone, that means making decisions with long-term impact in mind, being transparent about how we operate, and holding ourselves accountable at every level. People and planet are a priority to how the business is run, day in and day out.
Workers — 29.1 / 40
This pillar focuses on the people who make Ozone what it is - from baristas and chefs to roasters, warehouse teams and head office.
Our score recognises our commitment to being a Living Wage employer, alongside the importance we place on training, progression and wellbeing. We believe that great coffee starts with the people behind it, and creating safe, supportive workplaces is essential to doing our best work.

Community — 24.2 / 70
Community looks beyond our own sites, to the relationships we build with producers, partners and the places we operate in.
This score reflects our long-term sourcing relationships and our approach to responsible buying. During this assessment cycle, B Lab updated its methodology to place greater emphasis on Fairtrade and smallholder producers. That shift has already helped sharpen our focus and will continue to shape how we deepen our impact at origin in the years ahead.

Environment — 22.8 / 75
The environment pillar is where we’ve seen our biggest step forward.
Our score reflects the work we’ve done to measure our greenhouse gas emissions and put a carbon reduction plan in place, alongside practical operational choices - like roasting to order to reduce waste, and using recyclable or compostable packaging, including labels.
It’s a meaningful marker of progress, while also highlighting where we need to keep pushing as we work to lower our footprint further.

Customers — 2.5 / 5
We believe great coffee should be enjoyed with understanding, trust, and care — not mystery.
This pillar reflects how we look after our customers through the quality and integrity of our products, ethical marketing, and open, transparent communication. Alongside accredited packaging and quality control processes, we actively listen through feedback, reviews, and clear customer service and complaints channels, while taking data privacy and security seriously.
By pairing storytelling and education with practical safeguards and ongoing monitoring of customer satisfaction, we aim to build long-term trust — not just great cups of coffee.

Recertification isn’t a finish line for Ozone. It’s a checkpoint.
Next, we’ll be focused on delivering our carbon reduction plan, increasing our buying from smallholder producers, continuing to invest in team wellbeing and development, and preparing for the next evolution of B Corp standards.

We’re incredibly proud of reaching 97.6, but even more proud of the people and work behind it.

Thank you for being part of the journey - every cup of Ozone coffee helps support a fairer, more sustainable future for the people and places connected to it.
