An AeroPress steeping brewed coffee on scales on a blanket on the beach

Get to know: AeroPress

The AeroPress was invented in 2005 by Alan Adler, a retired Stanford engineering lecturer and passionate coffee enthusiast. Frustrated by the bitterness and lack of control in traditional brewing methods, Adler set out to create a device that could produce a smoother, more balanced cup of coffee. After experimenting with various prototypes in his garage, he developed the AeroPress; a simple yet innovative brewer that uses air pressure to extract rich, full-bodied coffee in under a minute. Initially met with skepticism, the AeroPress quickly gained a cult following among coffee lovers for its portability, versatility, and consistently excellent results.

Over the years, the AeroPress has evolved into a global phenomenon, inspiring countless brewing techniques and even its own international competition - the World AeroPress Championship. Its compact design, ease of use, and ability to brew everything from espresso-style shots to cold brew have made it a favourite among travellers, baristas, and home brewers alike. Today, the AeroPress continues to redefine how people experience coffee, proving that great design and a love for experimentation can change the way we brew.
