A juicy dollop of blueberry jam up front swings into brown sugar on the finish, before the fruit returns with blackberries and plums lingering on the aftertaste.
Mensur Abahika owns an 18-hectare farm in the Jimma region of Ethiopia. The Jimma region isn’t usually known for high-quality naturals; however, Mensur’s attention to detail in processing showcases what can be achieved in this case. It’s exciting for us to showcase the work of a single producer, as previously in Ethiopia, most coffees were being sold via washing stations or regions like Yirgacheffe. This is due to a recent change from the Authorities, who now allow farmers to export their coffee as their own.

Cultivating Excellence in Jimma: The Story of Mensur Abahika
In the hills of Western Ethiopia’s Jimma region, Mensur Abahika is producing standout natural-processed coffees that reflect both his dedication and the evolving landscape of Ethiopian coffee. As a leading member of the Tokuma Farmer Group, Mensur cultivates 18 hectares of land with a focus on careful processing and continuous improvement. His work is helping to shift perceptions of Jimma, a region not traditionally known for high-quality naturals, by showing what’s possible through attention to detail and shared knowledge.
The Tokuma Farmer Group, of which Mensur is a key part, has made significant strides in recent years - improving both the quality of their coffees and their ability to bring them to market efficiently. Thanks to recent policy changes, producers like Mensur can now export under their own names, offering greater transparency and recognition for their efforts. His coffee is a testament to the power of collaboration, local expertise, and the growing potential of Jimma as a region for exceptional specialty coffee.
