The AeroPress Clear is the latest evolution of one of specialty coffee's most iconic brewers. Where the original AeroPress is made from tinted grey polypropylene, the Clear is built from Tritan, a crystal-clear copolyester developed by Eastman that is tougher, more impact-resistant, and more thoroughly food-safe tested than standard plastics. The result is a brewer that looks genuinely beautiful on a worktop, lets you watch every stage of the extraction as it happens, and is built to last considerably longer than its appearance might suggest. Shatterproof, BPA-free, and made in the USA, it delivers exactly the same brewing performance as the original in a noticeably more refined package.
The brewing method is unchanged and remains one of the most versatile in manual coffee. AeroPress's patented 3-in-1 approach combines immersion, micro-filtration, and gentle air pressure to extract a smooth, full-bodied, grit-free cup in under two minutes. It handles filter-style coffee, espresso-style concentrates for use in milk drinks, and cold brew with equal ease, all from the same device with nothing more than adjustments to grind size, water temperature, and steep time. The transparent chamber makes it particularly satisfying to use: you can see the bloom, track your water level precisely against the measurement markings, and watch the extraction as you press. Compatible with the AeroPress Flow Control Filter Cap for even greater recipe control, and with both paper and metal reusable filters. Our brew guides cover technique in full if you're new to the AeroPress method.
At 5.25" tall and 4.2" wide, the Clear takes up very little space and is light enough to travel comfortably in a bag or carry-on without a second thought. It presses into any sturdy mug with an inner diameter between 2.625" (67mm) and 3.75" (95mm), which covers the vast majority of standard mugs. Always press into a sturdy ceramic or stainless mug rather than a thin-walled glass, which may not handle the pressure. Replacement AeroPress paper micro-filters are available in packs of 350 and sold separately.

What is the difference between the AeroPress Clear and the AeroPress Original? The brewing method, capacity, and performance are identical. The difference is entirely in the material. The Original is made from tinted grey polypropylene; the Clear is made from Tritan, which is crystal clear, tougher, more impact-resistant, and more thoroughly food-safety tested. The Clear is also more resistant to coffee staining over time. If you brew primarily at home and want something that looks good on the worktop, the Clear is the upgrade worth making. If portability and price are the main factors, the Original is perfectly capable.
What is Tritan and why does it matter? Tritan is a copolyester material manufactured by Eastman in the USA. It is exceptionally durable, shatterproof, and completely BPA and phthalate-free. It has the visual clarity of glass without the fragility, and is highly resistant to impact and temperature changes. It's also more dishwasher-stable than polypropylene over repeated use, meaning it maintains its clarity and performance for longer.
How does the AeroPress Clear compare to the AeroPress Go? The Clear is designed primarily for home and office use; it has the same 10oz brew capacity as the Original and comes without a travel mug or carrying case. The AeroPress Go is smaller (8oz capacity), lighter, and packs into its own mug for travel. If portability is the priority, the Go is the better choice; if you want the clearer, more durable Tritan material and don't need a built-in travel case, the Clear is the one.
What mug sizes is the AeroPress Clear compatible with? The Clear fits mugs with a top inner diameter of between 2.625" (67mm) and 3.75" (95mm), which covers most standard coffee mugs. Always press into a sturdy ceramic or stainless steel mug. Do not press into thin-walled glass mugs or carafes, which may not withstand the pressure.
Can I make espresso with the AeroPress Clear? You can produce an espresso-style concentrate with the Clear, particularly when paired with the AeroPress Flow Control Filter Cap, a paper filter, and a dark roast ground finely. The result is a concentrated, crema-topped shot that works well as the base for lattes and cappuccinos. It won't reach the 9-bar pressure of a dedicated espresso machine, but it produces a genuinely excellent and satisfying concentrate.
Is the AeroPress Clear dishwasher safe? Yes. The Tritan chamber and plunger are dishwasher safe on both the top and bottom rack, which is an improvement over the Original's polypropylene, which can degrade slightly with repeated dishwasher cycles. The silicone plunger seal should be inspected periodically for any wear.
How many filters does it come with, and where do I get more? The AeroPress Clear comes with 100 paper micro-filters in the box. Replacement filters are available in packs of 350 from our website, and are the same standard size used across the AeroPress Original, Go, Go Plus, and Clear models.
Can I use the AeroPress Flow Control Filter Cap with the Clear? Yes. The Flow Control Filter Cap is fully compatible with the AeroPress Clear and works with both paper micro-filters and metal reusable filters. It prevents drip-through during steeping, which unlocks longer immersion recipes, more consistent cold brew, and the ability to build pressure for espresso-style crema.
Is the AeroPress Clear available in different colours? The AeroPress Clear range includes a standard crystal clear version as well as coloured Tritan options. Check the product page for current colour availability.
The Story Behind AeroPress
The AeroPress was invented in 2005 by Alan Adler, a retired Stanford University engineering lecturer and lifelong tinkerer best known for creating the Aerobie flying disc. Frustrated by the bitterness and lack of control he found in conventional brewing methods, Adler applied the same engineering curiosity to coffee that he had brought to his sporting inventions, experimenting with prototypes in his garage until he had something genuinely new. The result was a deceptively simple device that used air pressure and immersion together to extract smooth, full-flavoured coffee in under two minutes, with a clarity and lack of bitterness that set it apart from anything else on the market.
The coffee world took notice quickly. The AeroPress became a favourite among specialty coffee enthusiasts, baristas, and travellers alike, celebrated for its speed, versatility, and near-indestructible build. In 2008, the World AeroPress Championship was founded, an annual competition that has since grown into a global event held across dozens of countries, with competitors publishing thousands of recipes that continue to push the limits of what the brewer can do.
Two decades on, the AeroPress range has expanded to include the Go, Go Plus, Clear, XL, and Premium models, but the core principle remains exactly as Adler conceived it: a straightforward, pressure-based brewer that produces outstanding coffee with minimal fuss, wherever you happen to be.
