The story of Moccamaster begins in the Netherlands in 1964, when Dutch industrial engineer Gerard-Clement Smit founded Technivorm. Originally focused on manufacturing step ladders and shelving systems, Smit’s passion for innovation and coffee soon led him to develop a revolutionary home coffee grinder in 1965. This grinder, designed to prevent heat buildup and preserve flavour, caught the attention of Dutch coffee giant Douwe Egberts.
