Layers of fruit notes with citrus leading the way. Blood orange, grapefruit and tangerine with jammy blackcurrant, caramel sweetness and fig in the aftertaste.
The Kangocho factory, affiliated with Gikanda FCS, lies along the Nairobi-Nyeri highway, just 5 km from Karatina on the fertile foothills of Mt. Kenya and the Aberdare range. Owned entirely by coffee-growing members, it operates under the oversight of an elected representative council.
The soil, enriched with minerals due to its location on Mount Kenya’s slopes, combined with consistent annual rainfall, creates ideal conditions for coffee cultivation. The processing journey begins with farmers delivering ripe cherries, which are de-pulped using clean water diverted from local Ragati river channels. An overnight fermentation process breaks down sugars naturally. After washing, the coffee is placed on raised drying beds, meticulously turned to ensure even drying.
