A juicy dollop of blueberry jam up front swings into brown sugar on the finish, before the fruit returns with blackberries and plums lingering on the aftertaste.
Mensur Abahika owns an 18-hectare farm in the Jimma region of Ethiopia. The Jimma region isn’t usually known for high-quality naturals; however, Mensur’s attention to detail in processing showcases what can be achieved in this case. It’s exciting for us to showcase the work of a single producer, as previously in Ethiopia, most coffees were being sold via washing stations or regions like Yirgacheffe. This is due to a recent change from the Authorities, who now allow farmers to export their coffee as their own.

The Tokuma Farmer Group is a collective of farmers based in the Jimma region of Western Ethiopia. This group has organized to market and export their coffees together, sharing knowledge and techniques to improve the quality and consistency of their products.
Mensur is a particularly notable member of the group alongside his wife, Nesru Aba Nura, who manages her own 9-hectare farm in the Kota Kebele of Jimma.
Over the past few years, the group has seen significant improvements in both the quality of their coffee and their ability to deliver it to port on time. This progress is partly due to the recent relaxation of restrictions on who can market and export coffee directly, allowing small to medium-sized producers to gain more visibility and market their coffees more effectively.
The group's effors are a great example of how collaboration and shared knowledge can lead to better outcomes for all members involved. Their work is helping to elevate the reputation of Jimma as a region capable of producing delicious high-quality specialty coffees.
